Boudin Bakery- SooFoo Visits a San Francisco Institution

SooFoo Visits Boudin Bakery

We had the unique opportunity to have a private tour of a San Francisco food institution, Boudin Bakery.
The bakery was founded in 1849 and still uses the same starter yeast-bacteria culture that was made during the time of the California Gold Rush.
We got to watch the bakers prepare the delicious sourdough bread in San Francisco’s oldest continuously operating business. Located in Fisherman’s wharf, we could see Alcatraz and The Golden Gate Bridge outside the floor to ceiling windows.

SooFoo is always interested in learning about food history and culture, and our tour docent, Terry, did a great job of fielding all of our foodie questions. We finished the day with a glass of wine and a chicken dinner in the bakery restaurant. It was a perfect ending to a chilly winter San Francisco day!
